Sorry for the lack of updates. The usual excuse, been busy/lazy.

A quick but meaningful update. This year has come and gone. Like the economy this year has been a downward spiral for me however I am optimistic for 2009 and hopefully that will continue in the theme for the upcoming year.

Family: More than ever, i've discovered how important they are to me. As my brother goes off to college, i'm left with the realization that I am only getting older. This leaves me with the phrase from "In This Diary" by the Ataris:

"These are the best days of our lives.
The only thing that matters is following your heart
And eventually you'll finally get it right"

I don't want to live life with regret. I'm going to live my dreams and try to stay optomistic.

Friends: Couldn't live without them. I should really be a better one and make the extra effort to keep in touch.

Work: I love my job. Hopefully this takes me to where I want to be.

School: What can I say, I am hard headed. I need to experience things first hand/ hands on before listening to advice.

There is so much more thoughts I want to write but i'm updating from work... might get around to editing it later.

It's basically a sneaker buy/sell/trade event that travels around the country. They flaked the past couple of years but alas they finally came and of all places, it was held at (H)O Lounge :/.

Thoughts on DXC: It was a nice event to go to, but quite a hefty entrance price at $10, which probably deterred some people. Hopefully they keep coming back to HI. It was a success for me because I sold my Tiffs and Hawaiis but some of my fellow ISSers didn't sell any.

I was going to do a mega post and put some food updates but i'll save that for another post.

Haven't posted in a while. Let's see how this goes.

School has been alright. The only subject I really study for is korean, probably because it is the most fun.

Here's evidence. This past monday we had a ChuSuk celebration, which is basically the 2nd biggest holiday in Korea, except we celebrated it a week early because of the teacher's error. My korean teacher, who is actually a sub for my real teacher, is on her last day tomorrow. She will be missed.

Work has been alright. After having 6 days work weeks at Lids, which have gotten to me real fast, it's nice for a cruise week (this week). Apple has been fun so farbut I am sad to leave the Lids ohana, although I am still down to help out at Lids whenever needed. Speaking of Apple, I love it! I think it's a change that I really needed.

Other than work, school, and sleep, I haven't really anything else. But seriously, what's new?

I'll end this blog on a happy note (and see why i'm sooooo materialistic)

Summer Winding Down

Past few days have pretty much been work and nothing, along with these significant events.

Thursday met up with Whitt and Koji after work and celebrated for the end of summer. Met a new friend, Amanda. 1 year younger but I vaugley rememeber her.

Friday I had interview with Apple and I think it went really well. Also met up with Mika and chatted with her before her departure to London till the end of the year.

Saturday I had insomnia since I went to sleep early the night before. Woke up around midnight, didn't sleep till 7:30am. Watched Donny Darko during that time. Thoroughly enjoyed that movie although I could never bring myself to watch it since it was such a slow moving movie in the begining and it was just too strange. Woke up around noon and got the call to meet up with Daniel at Walls. Had a nice session; I caught the perfect wave on my own and rode it all the way in; that in itself was worth the whole time. Pretty much just starting to appreciate all that Hawaii has to offer after 20 odd years of not taking adavantage of it. Daniel and I agree that every week/weekend we should take advantage of the beach or hikes. I'm definetely going to try it. After Walls I went to Chad's house and chilled with the wrestlers. Took care of some airsoft business after and just preparing for the game tomorrow at the new Waipahu field.

Begining of the End

So it's obviously becoming the end of summer. The first wave of people are starting to leave to go back to college. Today I had a farewell dinner for Tyler/Isobe. Waited about 1.5 hrs at CPK before saying fuck it and going to Tanaka of Tokyo. Service was good, but our chef was an ass. Wasted the night away after that, literally, as we always do. For once i'll see what it's really like to not have to go away. Times are sure changing.

Things Fall Apart

So the title shouldn't and doesn't represent the overall blog mood but it's definetely the most recent feeling.

Weekend bbq at Waimanalo beach park on Saturday. Man-O-War in the water so couldn't go in which sucked since the weather was nice and the water looked oh sooo good. Someone brought kalbi to bbq and that was definetely the food highlight. We left Waimanalo and went to Kokohead park for some capture the flag and basketball.

Sunday was game day at Kualoa. One of my better performing days. Still can't find alot of my airsoft stuff so that's on my to-do list.

Today was a mixed bag. My iPhone crashed so I had to restore it. Lost all my notes, pictures, and contacts. Even worse, I can't connect to wi-fi to even get my contact list imported from sim so right now I just have a phone, not an iPhone. Work sucked, I was not in the mood for it but I ended up hitting some sales goals which is good since i'm pretty lackluster in that department. On the bright side (for those of you who know me, you know how hard it is for me to look there), my family bought an iMac today but our MacID didn't register/ we can't log in so that's another headache to worry about.

Lillian's In Hawaii!

Met up with Lillian and Daniel yesterday. Went to Iolani Palace and did the audio tour, complete with booties and all. After that we hele'd on to Leonard's on Kapahulu for some malasadas! From there we went to Kapiolani park and Walls. Fucking coral + low tide = disaster. Daniel got coral or something stuck in his foot, Lillian cut her foot, and I minorly cut my knee. After a shitty experience of swimming with coral, we chilled on the shore. Rushed over to Waiola Shave Ice right after that. Waiola definitely has to step up their game; they sparingly give syrup and most of my cone was just unflavored "ice". Dropped me off at Lids after that.

Shout out to Lillian and Daniel: Thanks for your generosity and hope you guys enjoyed your "romantic" dinner!

Summer in the City

Sorry for the lack of update(s). I couldn't update from NYC because my Internet didn't offer free wifi. I'll try and recollect on NYC, but honestly, there was way too much!

After leaving Cornell we drove back to NYC. For the most part, the trip went smooth up until we hit the Lincoln Tunnel. Traffic is insane and it was about an 1.5 hours from Jersey till we got out of the Lincoln tunnel. We stayed at the Milford Plaza Hotel, conveniently located at 45th st & 8th Ave, a few blocks up from Times Square and Port Authority. After settling in, we took the journey up to 53rd & 6th for the infamous chicken plate. My parents enjoyed it and it defetely added to the not-so-usual NYC experience.

I really can't remember the rest of the dates in detail so i'll just name some highlights.

-Met up with Grace and ate at various places with her including Joe Shanghai/Joe Ginger (onolicious soup dumplings!)
-Niketown ID, made my own shoe which I dubbed "Armed Forces 95"
-Hit up SSUR, Reedspace, DQM, Flight Club, etc
-Frickin Hot subway rides!
-Ferry ride to and from Staten Island (had to pick up my slams!)
-Michael's Pizza
-Being racially discriminated against by a Lids employee.
-Spurattic rain showers
-Breakin' necks with the AM95s
-Watching Dark Knight with Grace and the family
-Seeing a guy and his pregnant wife try and enter a porno shop near Times Square WHILE he has his baby in the stroller
-Wandering around SoHo, Grennich Village, etc

All in all, NYC was the pinnacle of the trip. Being there makes me motivated to do well and try and reapply for a CUNY. Can't wait to go back...

Lehigh and Cornell

Today was a pretty wasted day. We left Philly at 6.45am for Lehigh University in Bethlehem,PA. Once we got to Lehigh my dad wanted to me to watch the car because he's paranoid that it would be broken into, so for the duration of our time there, I stayed in the car... Didn't really matter, I slept most of the time. After Lehigh we went on the road for a 4 hour drive to Cornell in Ithica,NY. I slept most of the way. We stopped off at some random diner but I was too tired to eat so guess what I did? I slept in the car! Slept for most of the way to Cornell to. Anyways, we got to Ithica and checked in and ate at a Japanese restraunt, "Sake Sushi" or "Sushi Sake". It was ok, nothing special, kinda overpriced. Rest of the night was spent in the hotel room. I'm not even tired now...

Illadelphia

Left Newark to Philly. Feels good to be back here. The hotel i'm staying at is literally right across from City Hall and man this location is nice.

While the rest of the family took the UPenn tour, I checked out Lids and Ubiq in the Gallery. Walked over to Ubiq and Stussy store on Walmart and chilled with Chris, the worker at the Stussy store. Real down to Earth dude, hope he visits Hawaii soon. Anyways, picked up the Philadelphia chapter shirt as well as a few tees on sale.

After Stussy I hit up a few of the spots that Chris told me to hit up. First on the list was Abakus in Chinatown. The store is really cool, modeled after a Chinese take out restraunt. They got rare shoes for resell, but not with FlightClub rape prices. The crew inside was also chill, I talked story with them for a little bit. Hopefully these guys will be popping up big in the future so ya'll keep an eye out.

After Abakus I tried Zen, a bubble drink place that Chris reccomended. Got the taro drink and it was so good that I ordered a blueberry drink. I told the owner where I was from and he mentioned that he's been to Hawaii more than a couple of occasions. I don't care what people say, Philadelphia is the city of Brotherly Love. The people here are a hell of a lot nicer than the NYC cats.

Went back to the hotel and took a nap. Woke up to eat Jims, the best cheese steak place in town! I waited 2 years to try it again and I can say the wait was worth it. After Jim's I walked around South St. Maika ended up buying a new era cap from a store where they had the New Era cap stretching machine that stretches with heat and steam. Cool concept.

Waking up in a few hours to go visit LeHigh. Lates.

BC, BU, and Newark

Visited Boston University today. Nice college, I really wish I wasn't such a dumbass at his age and applied to BU. After BU, we went to BC. I was too tired at this point and slept in the car while the family took the college tour. Drove from Boston to Newark for the night. Ate at Boulder steakhouse or something and ate the Outlaw, a 33oz steak. The place was alright, not the best but not the worst. Staying in the shithole known as Newark, NJ really makes me appreciate not living in the armpit of America.

Woke up at 1pm and basically toured the city. Took my parents forever to purchase the Charlie Ticket (subway card). We wondered around the city and ate at Quincy Market. We got the craving for Boston Creme pies and found the local favorite, Mike's Pastry. That place was packed more than a Chinese hospital! I didn't feel like eating the creme pie so I ended up getting a sugar banana which sucked royally. We wondered around some more and ended up at some annual Italian block party. Wondered around some more until my dads shoe started to fall apart...literally. Went to Footlocker to pick up some new shoes for him and found a Lids a few streets down. Walked to Paul Revere's grave and another monument after that. Ate dinner at Legal seafood then went to Trader Joe's then back to the hotel.

En Wy Cee

So I got into NYC with no problems, aside from the fact that I only had 1 hour of sleep. Took the direct shuttle to Port Authority instead of subway/bus because Laguardia doesn't sell 1 Day unlimited metro cards. Went straight to 42nd st Lids and picked up the All Star Game Yankees fitted on discount. Went to Port Authority, purchased my metro card, and went down to Grand Central then to 5th Ave where I got my Mets All Star game on discount at 5th Ave lids LOL. Went back to Grand Central and went up to East/Spanish Harlem and visited Uncle Jiggie Sports (formerly Pegasus) where I picked up the Warriors fitted, Yankees 3m fitted, and AM95 "citys".

If you're ever in Manhattan, make the trip up to Harlem to visit Uncle Jiggie Sports!

I was getting props for being from Hawaii and wearing the Neon 95s from the one worker there; probably one of the few reasons why I'd make the trip back up there since he was the best part of their customer service. After Uncle Jiggie I went to Goliath RF and met Harlem's famed "Japablack". Real tight guy. Picked up the Goliath 59Fifty shirt. After that I went back down to Grand Central and walked around; somehow I ended up at the New York Public Library at Bryant Park. I was pretty tired at that point and just walked/ sat around until I had to meet up with my dad at Laguardia. Hung out with Juan at the Lids Kiosk over there and ended up missing my dad. Met him up at the rental car. From there it was mostly short bursts of sleep, pizza from Airways Pizza in Queens, and meeting up with the rest of the family who got delayed at Ohare by 5 HOURS!!! Anyways, we made the 3.5 hour trip to Boston and here I am at almost 4am. I apologize for not taking more pics but it was rather cumbersome carrying my bag and my pickups and trying to take pics. More to come later in the week since I got alot of my desired shopping out of the way. I better get some sleep, peace and mahaloback!

NYC is only 2 days away. My days have been filled with half-assed packing and work. I haven't been saving as much as I should have either. Picked up $28 Air Maxes from Footlocker and Tiffs off a guy from FH. There goes a ton of spending money. Sold my white kala and about to sell my Aloha Makai fitted. Payday tomorrow! Just gotta hold out 2 more days till the vacation of my summer!

A Day At The Races

Went with Paul and picked up the DJ Clark Kent Trainers from Kicks/HI. Broke out my AM95 Neons for the first time and broke some necks on the way to and from Kicks/HI. Unfortunately I could only get size 11 which is cool enough in itself that I could still get a pair. Big ups to Justin and Anthony for hooking me up with the shoe. Also picked up the new Kicks/HI "You Know Where We Stay" shirt. Checked out Dig Lifestyles and inquired about getting a reprint of the Talib Kweli photo. They said to call back later for pricing. That would look dope on my wall when I move out. Met up with Koji later at Ala Moana and killed some time. All in all a pretty chill day.
